Supergrip boots are ideal for the majority of horses straight out of the box. Some horses however are "more unique than others" and need special attention. Please contact us to discuss any special requirements, what follows is just a brief summary of some of the situations we have already dealt with...

Flat soles.
The Supergrip boots offer TOTAL protection for the soles, but because they are removed after riding, they do not soften or weaken the sole, and there is no problem with thrush. Extremely sensitive soles can use the special neoprene insoles. As the hoof can now flex, move and function as nature intended, it may be found that the shape improves.

Contracted heels.
The unique air chamber ensures a good fit with any width heel. Once the nailed shoes are removed, the improved hoof function should, with the assistance of remedial trimming from a skilled farrier, improve in shape. As it does so, the air chamber will ensure that the boot continues to fit snugly and comfortably.

Cracked or crumbling hooves.
The boots are ideal for this type of hoof, because there is no longer any need to further weaken the hoof wall with nails. A competent farrier can remedial trim more frequently if necessary to encourage healthy hoof growth. As the hoof can now function as it was designed to, blood supply will increase and horn quality should improve.

Navicular syndrome.
One of the main causes of Navicular is the long-toed/low heel imbalances which more common on shod horses, partly because of the lack of natural wear and the infrequent trimming intervals… The syndrome is exacerbated by concussion on hard ground. Supergrip helps in two ways - the unshod hoof is able to wear naturally, and a skilled farrier can assist a speedy return to a healthier balance with frequent trimming, without having to continually remove and replace nailed shoes. Secondly, the design of the boot reduces concussion and because there is no longer any need for nailed shoes, the hoof can function properly which increases blood flow and speeds recovery.

Laminitis.
Supergrip are recommend by several veterinary universities in Germany for use on horses with laminitis. When combined with our special neoprene insoles, Supergrip offers excellent support and comfort for laminitics. An additional advantage is that the hoof can be trimmed as often as necessary, without continually driving new nail holes.

Seedy Toe / White Line Disease
For horses with seedy toe, the fully enclosed sole of the boots can really help keep grit and dirt out of the white line area, whilst still enabling the horse to be active.

Boxy feet or a club foot.
The combination of the flexible front and the patented air chamber ensure a good fit on most shapes. Because the unshod hoof is no longer prevented from functioning, and can be trimmed more frequently it may be found that the shape improves.

Very High or Very Low Heels
There are many adjustments that can be made to enable Supergrip boots to fit the vast majority of hooves, including those with low or high heels. It is important that the air chamber fits correctly against the heel bulbs.
