Mrs Alexandra Collins, Scarborough

Dear Equestrian Select,

I have great pleasure in enclosing some photographs of my daughter Claire's New Forest pony, Starry, modelling her new boots! I'm sure you will agree that the yellow shows up incredibly well, which is a great advantage when you consider the number of traffic accidents involving horses. I was very much hoping to keep her unshod but riding on the roads (unavoidable these days unfortunately) quickly wore down her front hooves.

Because of the contraction on the inside of the hoof, nailing on any form of shoe to help was almost impossible, as we were nailing in to the sensitive part. We tried all sorts of alternative methods of keeping them on, but found that the hoof growth was being restricted. He ended up by loosing an inch off the diameter of the hoof, which was compounding the problem

It was suggested we gave him a period of time on medication, reassess, but with a very good possibility of having him put down.

We spent hours on the internet researching. My friend told me about an advert she saw for the Marquis Supergrip Boot sold in the UK by Equestrian Select. I phoned and had a pair of boots sent down. I was very sceptical at first, because we had tried so many other methods.

The fitting was so simple and Sooty was able to start work again. They are amazing, I can do everything with Sooty that I used to be able to do, schooling, hacking (through mud and water) and competing.

Sooty, with the help of the Marquis Supergrip Boot, has gone from strength to strength, and is now competing at medium level dressage. I always hoped when we bought him he would be the horse to take over from my retired Grand Prix horse Pierrot.

In my opinion as Sooty is able to work as normal and get the blood pumping around the hoof, he has regained his original hoof size (5 1/2 inches) and since wearing the Marquis Supergrip Boot, is not on any form of medication.

This truly remarkable story has to be testament to the Marquis Supergrip Boot, and the Equestrian Select team that have been there for Sooty and me. I only wish I could write in more detail about the product.

Six months ago I was given the devastating news that my 7yr old horse had last stage navicular and pedal bone rotation. The future was very bleak.

Caroline Hurst, Petersfield

Dear Equestrian Select,

Please find attached a picture of me and "Splash". This photo was taken 11/5/03 when we took part ina 10 mile sponored ride at Cowdray Estate, Midhurst. We raised£71 for the Hunt and Tandem (Charity which raised money for the elderly and disabled in Midhurst). We got a rosette and a trophy and we both thoroughly enjoyed the day.

It was our first event together and the boots (marquis supergrip) were fantastic. He wore them for the whole ten miles with no problems at all and for a duration of at least 4 hours, if not more. He wears them everywhere he goes and its now just part of his tacking up routine.

Thank you for letting me send this photo. It's not too clear that he's wearing them, if you need a better photograph I could get one taken. I hope to see him in magazines, if it is possible it would be fantastic. Thank you again, the boots are brilliant.

Yours sincerely,

Caroline Hurst

We first tried Starry in another make of hoof boot but she made her approval of them very obvious and putting them on became a race against time to get the first strap fastened before the boot was unceremoniously thrown through the air! However, I am pleased to report that after her initial misgivings at the idea of wearing yet another type of boot she is now extremely helpful about having them on, pushing her hooves in and waiting patiently while I fasten the clip and blow up the airbag.

She moves very well in them and now takes a longer stride so she obviously finds them very comfortable. This must be because they are held on by the airbag around her heel rather than chafing straps. The grip is another advantage - no sliding on the road riding downhill and much less worrying about patches of ice! However, the main benefit is that she doesn't have to wear metal shoes for 168 hours a week just because her hooves need protection for the 8 or so hours she is working. I am sure her hooves (and legs) will benefit. It is an added bonus that the boots are going to save me a fortune as all the wearing parts can be easily replaced. Yours are the only hoof boots I've heard of that offer this feature.

I would like to thank you for your excellent customer care service; as you know the airbag was a little high for her heel at first and is a much better fit since you altered it. Nothing seems too much trouble for the Equestrian Select team!

Thank you once again. Starry is very happy in her new footwear and I would be happy to recommend your product to anybody.

Yours sincerely,

Alexandra Collins (Mrs)
